Dataverse data curation: open, free and ongoing.
Introductory, large-scale regional training for professionals and institutions to build capacity in the responsible management, curation and publication of research data.
Why this training
Publishing data requires criteria, support and practice.
The course strengthens distributed capacity so institutions can recognize, review and support data publication ethically and sustainably.
Institutional capacity
Curation should not be concentrated in one team: it requires shared knowledge across libraries, repositories and research support.
Responsible decisions
Licensing, privacy, sensitive data and access conditions require practical criteria and clear routes for consultation.
Learning pathway
A shared pathway for everyday curation.
This is introductory training: it provides a shared foundation for recognizing common situations and knowing when specialized support is needed.

Recognize the relationship between open science, research data, FAIR and publication.
Describe
Apply initial criteria for metadata, documentation and descriptive quality.

Review the organization, formats, files and technical readiness of the data package.
Decide responsibly
Identify licenses, restrictions, ethics and institutional responsibilities.
First release
Content began to be released progressively.
The interval between modules allows participants to complete practical activities and connect theory with real management and curation situations. Once released, the course remains available as ongoing training.

Ongoing course. These dates correspond to the first release of content, which began on 24 August 2026. The course remains open afterward for new participants and future training activities.
Moodle and Dataverse Alpha
Infrastructure is learned by using it.
Moodle organizes the pathway, resources, activities, progress tracking and completion certificate. Dataverse Alpha provides concrete examples for observing datasets, files, metadata, licenses and documentation in a real infrastructure.
This training is the foundation for future specialized courses and for beginning to support the people who will curate institutional collections added to the regional repository.

Current status

The launch marks the beginning of a permanent offer. Enrollment and participation figures are a snapshot from 24 August 2026 and will continue to be updated.
Open, free and certified
Moodle offers asynchronous, large-scale training with resources, activities, self-assessments, progress tracking and a completion certificate for those who complete the pathway.
Foundation for regional support
The course prepares future specialized training and support for curators of institutional collections that will be progressively integrated into the regional repository.
